This is a cottage situated on smallholding in the Cederberg. The design incorporated Sustainable Design Principles and Adaptive reuse design. The sustainable and adaptive reuse design principles used stone for the plinths from the surrounding area and was used for structural strength. The walls above was a combination of brick wall, cob wall and drywall. The cob was a material that could easily be broken down and reworked into new shape and size rooms as the family grew. This is where that combination of design principles is a potent design formula for sustaibable building.
